to an intimate dinner affair of art & food, featuring a multi-course tasting dinner prepared by chef owen campbell and a live dance performance and multi-sensory art installation by dancer/choreographer yosuke mino and multidisciplinary textile artist ash alberg. enjoy an evening surrounded by the rainbow of our local prairie colour palette, courtesy of homegrown and locally harvested natural dye plants.

you will enjoy a private viewing of the current work-in-progress of nature’s glamour, a large-scale multi-sensory art installation made from and celebrating local dye plants. the complete installation will debut to the wider public in late 2024/early 2025 (gallery and dates TBD). this dinner and preview showing are intended as a fundraiser and special event for potential donors, bringing them into the magic at an earlier stage of development.

about the artists & their roles

ash alberg (they/them) is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in textiles and trained in both classical and devised physical theatre. they are a storyteller and maker of worlds, taking frequent inspiration from folklore and fairy tales. they completed earlier pieces of the larger body of work for this piece during the riding mountain artist residency in july 2023 thanks to the support of manitoba arts council and parks canada. alberg is the primary artist behind this installation, designing and building the elements within it and crafting a full experience for audiences of all ages to enjoy. alberg gives thanks to the plants for being such willing co-creators.

yosuke mino (he/him) is a former soloist with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and is now a choreographer. his current full-length work, Kimiko’s Pearl, will debut at Bravo Niagara! Festival of the Arts in june 2024. he is choreographing the dancers who will perform both in live and recorded/projected form throughout the installation, bringing to life the fantastical world we are making.

owen campbell (he/him) is the creative culinary genius behind the delectable flavours at FortWhyte Farms. with a passion for food that spans a lifetime, he has been tantalizing taste buds and inspiring palates with a diverse range of dishes. as a dedicated chef and culinary instructor, campbell brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the kitchen. he is making/leading the food elements for every audience-focused event for this installation, from donor dinners to opening night receptions to nibbles to enjoy as audiences enter the installation during public art showings.
