the brightest of the sisters, alycone is referred to as the “central one.” after enraging the gods with her husband, the pair were punished and he was killed at sea. alycone threw herself in the ocean to join him, and zeus turned the pair into kingfishers. once every year, the waves settle long enough for these mates to nest, bringing about the “halycon days.”
these socks are a little less dramatic, but they can definitely be the shining stars of your sock drawer. easy to modify for longer lengths for the colder months, you can knit them up as written to have sweet little shortie socks to show off even in those warmer temperatures.
