neurocraft (2017-2018)

between 2017 and 2018, i took part in manitoba craft council’s neurocraft exhibit, partnering with dr. melanie martin as we explored dementia through the lens of textile craft.

the artwork featured weavings that incorporated bones from lab mice (procured by dr. martin) and lights that ran on an analog motion sensor. an audio track featuring recordings of an fMRI machine overlapping conversations with my grandfather as he recounted stories from the second world war played to create a multi-sensory experience. the work was shown as a solo exhibition for nuit blanche in 2017, then in group exhibitions at the health sciences centre and manitoba craft council in 2018.
