bison doll for fortwhyte alive (2018)

i was gifted the bones and some fibre from a bison and made this bison doll for fortwhyte alive’s fundraising auction. the materials included the bone, fibre, a small knitted shawl made with locally grown and milled yarn from my sponsorsheep tansy, and a small foraged twig for arms. she is purely decorative and too fragile for play, but utterly charming with her braided hair and bone body/dress. a truly local and land-based piece of custom art.
