the ebb and flow of the tides can be incredibly peaceful and meditative. the sound of them hitting the shore has always had a calming effect on me. this hat is also quite meditative, with a simple yet lovely cable that splits the hat into quadrants and decreases in the most satisfying and balanced way.

needles: US 3 (3.25mm) 16” (40cm) circular needles PLUS dpns OR circular needles long enough for magic loop method, or size needed to obtain gauge

yarn: 224 yards (205 metres), 25g of light fingering weight yarn 
sample shown in shibui knits’ pebble (48% silk/36% merino/16% cashmere, 224 yards 205 metres, 25g) x 1 skein

notions: stitch marker, cable needle

gauge: 24 stitches x 46 rounds = 4” (10cm), over pattern ribbing, worked in the round, blocked
