needles: US 3 (3.25mm) 32” (80cm) circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge

yarn: 492 yards (450 metres), 50g of laceweight yarn 
sample shown in hélène magnússon’s love story (100% icelandic lambswool, 246 yards 225 metres, 25g) x 2 skeins in natural brown

notions: tapestry needle, 2 stitch markers

gauge: 24 stitches x 26 rows = 4” (10cm), over garter, blocked and stretched
