onegdaj is a polish word that roughly translates to “something that happened in the past.” or perhaps more simply put, a memory. with a classic lace stitch bordering a body of garter stitch, this shawl will allow you to wander down your own memory lane while you knit since you won't need to concentrate too hard on your needles. the trickiest part of this shawl will come when you block it - this darling requires some aggressive wet blocking to achieve its shape, so get those blocking wires and t-pins out!

needles: US 7 (4.5mm) 32” (80cm) circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge

yarn: 750 yards (687 metres), 300g of dk weight yarn*

sample shown uses harrisville designs’ nightshades (80% american cormo/20% american wool, 250 yards [229 metres], 100g) x 3 skeins in talk radio

*note: due to the lofty nature of the suggested yarn, it’s a good idea to grab an extra skein just to be on the safe side so you don’t have to play yarn chicken. use any leftovers for a pair of fingerless mitts or a cute hat!

notions: tapestry needle, cable needle (optional)

gauge: 22 stitches x 30 rows = 4” (10cm), over main body, blocked
