a very special edition to the sunflower knit herbal line! these soaps are gently scented thanks to the use of home-distilled hydrosols from homegrown and locally foraged plants, as well as peels from (imported) citrus that would have otherwise gone directly to compost. they are gently coloured with the use of homemade plant pigments leftover from homegrown natural dye baths.
hydrosols are plant waters and often the by-product of essential oil distillation. these home-distilled hydrosols are crafted in extremely small batches using a traditional copper still provided by abode manitoba, and are used in replacement of plain water during the lye water stage of cold-process soap making. the result is a more gently scented soap still infused with the plant benefits, making it a safer option for those with skin sensitivities as well as very young children who should not be exposed to regular strength dilutions of essential oils.
uses a creamy all-purpose soap formula. it’s perfect for basically anything you can think of, and will make traveling and low-waste living exponentially easier. use for body wash, hand wash, shampoo bar, travel laundry bar, dog shampoo, back-up wool wash…

shampoo (with a great lather, focus this soap on your scalp and follow up with an apple cider vinegar rinse and occasional oil treatment for your locks)
body/hand wash
laundry soap when you’re camping or backpacking
wool wash - yup, you can use this soap on your woollens! lather the bar up between your hands with some water and then place the lather into your wash/block basin. because you’re using very little soap to help with washing and blocking, the ph of your water shouldn’t shift, meaning your fibre’s structural integrity isn’t compromised in any way. note that this soap will not replace lanolin removed from your minimally processed wools.
