everyday magic (2017-2022)
everyday magic was a 5-year project that set the groundwork for many of my future projects and pattern collections. it grew into a celebration of the whole wheel of the year, a pagan tradition of 8 ritual holidays (some of which may seem very familiar).

swatching the tarot (2020)
in 2020, i explored the major arcana of the tarot by creating a swatch for every card, using canadian wool dyed with local dye plants.
unfolding (2019)
my first truly large-scale project after going full-time with sunflower knit in 2018 was my unfolding collection, a series of 12 shawl knitting patterns inspired by the moon sign in astrology. your moon sign is the placement of the moon at the time of your birth, and signifies your emotional self. patterns were designed with thought towards the stitches used as well as the colour of the yarn to create an overall composition that felt true to each sign. the romance copy of each pattern gave a little bit of information for the knitter about what that placement might mean for them as far as themes and shadow work they might recognize in their own life.

Ferðaskór (travelling shoes) (2017)
Ferðaskór (travelling shoes) was the second book collaboration between ash alberg of sunflower knit and samson learn of samson photography. they hit the ring road around iceland in 2017, interviewing knitting designers and natural dyers along the way, and photographed a book of new knitting patterns for a capsule wardrobe among the volcanos, fjords, lava fields, and lichen. infused with folklore and a rugged landscape, it will inspire your own sense of adventure…
flotsam & jetsam (2016)
flotsam & jetsam was my very first physical book of knitting patterns, published in september 2016. it was inspired by my second home in nova scotia, on the banks of the north atlantic, and was the first co-creation with my dear one, samson learn. we’ve gone on to create more books together, but the road trip we took for this one keeps a special hold on my heart.
when nature fought back (2015)
